Healthcare providers Focus Inward on Being Healthy

With healthcare providers sole focus being on their patients and ensuring their health and satisfaction, sometimes the doctors, nurses, and employees providing that care health problems can go unnoticed.

Kansas City’s very own Children’s Mercy is working to eliminate that and is offering a new on-site health center for employees. According to Nasdaq OMX, Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics will open a 15,000 square foots health and wellness center for its more than 6,000 employees and their spouses/domestic partners this fall.

The Employee Wellness Center will offer primary and urgent care, as well as laboratory and pharmacy services six days a week.  The Employee Wellness Center will also focus on creating a personalized experience for their employees and help them with a whole healthy lifestyle approach.

They will do more than focus on immediate needs, they will focus on the total health and wellness of each employee. They will offer routine labs and tests, management of health conditions, and the ability to meet with a health coach that can get you started on the right track to living a healthier lifestyle.

Another benefit to the employees is that there will be no waiting room, they will simply check in and go straight to a care suite to see a provider. Along with that they will have access to an online client portal where they can review everything from their visit and schedule future visits with the click of a button.  This is the first time Children’s Mercy Kansas City has been able to provide something like this to their own employees and is excited about all the potential and employee happiness it will bring.

It is great that Children’s Mercy is going out of their way to provide something like this for their employees and healthcare facilities across the nation should strive to do the same.

Healthcare focuses all of their attention on the care of their patients (which is important!), but the employees of those company’s should know that their health is important too. By Children’s Mercy and many other healthcare facilities across the nation which are opening the same types of facilities for their employees shows that they care and is a great way to ensure convenient access and affordable healthcare to the ones that work so hard for them.

Being healthy isn’t just about fitness; it’s about physical, mental, and emotional well-being. To stay healthy, we need to follow the guidelines, of the healthy guidelines.
